Generate electrical power with the nacelle
The Power Generator for the Nacelle – Wind Turbine Learning System is an optional component for the Nacelle – Wind Turbine Learning System. It can be purchased separately or bundled with a variant of the nacelle.
The power generator creates a grid connection that enables the nacelle’s three-phase induction generator to produce real electrical power. The power is returned to the system proportionate to the wind simulation running on the nacelle. It allows students to monitor several actual (not simulated) electrical parameters, such as VAR, W, VA, power factor, etc.
The power generator includes the following components: a soft starter, an overload, switchable compensation capacitors, and a power meter (Siemens SENTRON PAC3200).
The power generator can be installed on top of the electrical panel of the nacelle, under the obstruction lighting and wind measuring devices. The power generator is connected to the nacelle directly in the lockable electrical panel for enhanced safety, using the provided AC power connector.
