Modern Industrial Hydraulics

Modern Industrial Hydraulics

Designed as a general introduction to the subject of hydraulics, the course gives a comprehensive introduction to hydraulic equipment, components and circuit design. Applicable to multiple engineering type roles, this foundation of learning will improve communications between colleagues, suppliers and customers via a common understanding.

Practical sessions give delegates the opportunity to put theory into practice. Working from diagrams they have produced, delegates select the correct components from a range of hydraulic equipment and build the circuits ensuring an effective transfer of learning, in order to obtain the skills needed.

Target Group
All personnel involved with the design, assembly, maintenance, operation and servicing of hydraulic systems.

Training Outcomes
On completion of this hydraulic training course, participants will be able to:

  1. Understand the principles of hydraulics
This ensures the fundamental principals are fully understood to enable further development. We will correct misunderstandings to aid fault-finding and reduce downtime.

  2. Understand the basic functions of hydraulic systems
Enables users to identify components and understand their function in a circuit. Helps improve communications regarding components and applications to create efficiencies.

  3. Understand the functions of valves (flow control, pressure control, directional control and non-return)
Learn how to make adjustments and understand the effects these will have. This helps staff recognise issues and maintain the system effectively, thus improving confidence and optimising performance.

  4. Recognise circuit symbols and diagrams to ISO 1219
Enables users to identify components and understand their function in a circuit. Helps improve communications regarding components and applications to create efficiencies.

  5. Design and construct basic hydraulic circuits
Improve automation and understand when adjustments and modifications may be needed.

  6. Understand safe practice Identify potential hazards to yourself and others.
Understanding why certain components are (and should be) included for safety reasons.

  7. Understand the functions of power packs, pumps, filters and reservoirs
Understand the components included in the supply part of hydraulic systems for more effective maintenance procedures to optimise system performance.

N.B. Course contents are only a guide and will be covered as far as time permits.
